A plant layout is an arrangement of facilities and services in the plant. 
It outline relationship between production centre's and department.

Plant layout can be defined as an optimum arrangement industrial facilities, including personnel, equipment, storage space, material handling and all other supporting services, in an existing plant's. 

Objectives of plant layout is one which enables the right equipment coupled with right methods, in right place to permit processing of a product unit in the most effective manner. A good layout ensures orderly and efficiently arrangement of work facilities and personal.

The objectives of a good layout are listed below 
(A) It permits the arrangement of the equipment to provide greater utilisation.
(b) A good layout will minimise the production delays and reduce congestion, by allowing smooth and continues flow of raw materials handling and transportation.
(C) It helps to increase the output by shortening the manufacturing time.
